SGF Round 2 Call for Proposals

Mangroves for the Future (MFF) is pleased to announce the second round of Small Grant Facility (SGF) call for proposals. MFF is a partnership-led initiative to promote investment in coastal ecosystems.

Mangroves for the Future (MFF) is pleased to announce the second round of Small Grant Facility (SGF) call for proposals. MFF is a partnership-led initiative to promote investment in coastal ecosystems. For more information about MFF, please visit: www.mangrovesforthefuture.org.The SGF supports local community action for the conservation and management of coastal ecosystems. As well as providing direct environmental and livelihood benefits, SGF will support projects that offer practical models to inspire policy-making and thereby link the household and community level to coastal area management and policy-making. SGF projects should ensure the participation of women and other disadvantaged groups, at least at a demonstration scale. 

Budget

Applicants can apply for grants of up to US$25,000.  

Implementation period

Up to 24 months

Thematic focus

The SGF will support community based coastal ecosystems rehabilitation and management projects that can help in one or more of the following areas:

  • Build local capacity to implement sustainable development strategies, enhancing ‘local ownership”;
  • Create public awareness on environmental issues;
  • Address livelihood, climate change, gender concerns;
  • Demonstrate potential for replication or scaling-up, and co-financing;
  • Create an impact on policy at national/local levels;

Project proposals must explicitly integrate gender issues and/or address gender related concerns.

Eligibility

Proposals can be submitted by NGOs, CBOs, research centers, and educational institutions with operations in Viet Nam that meet the following criteria:

  • Are registered, preferably for at least three years (see Annex 2).
  • Have a proven or strong potential capacity to implement community-based projects.
  • Have a proven record of working with local communities in a participatory way.
  • Can demonstrate experience in project management and financial administration.

Selection process

Applicants should submit a project concept note of no more than 2 pages (template in annex 1) in English or/and Vietnamese.  Short listed applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal.  Please note that an invitation to submit a full proposal is no guarantee that it will be financially supported by the MFF.
