MFF Viet Nam SGF Call for Proposal 2013

The Mangroves for the Future (MFF) small grant facility (SGF) is pleased to announce a call for proposals covering Central and Northern Viet Nam. MFF is a partnership-led initiative to promote investment in coastal ecosystems. For more information about MFF, please visit: www.mangrovesforthefuture.org. The SGF supports local community actions for the conservation and management of coastal ecosystems as key natural infrastructure which supports human well-being and security.

Budget

Applicants can apply for grants of up to US$20,000. 

Implementation period

Up to 18 months

Thematic focus

This SGF call for proposals targets the following themes:

  • Test methods and approaches at community level that can be used to inspire and contribute to government policies and programs on coastal ecosystems management.
  • Contribute to the implementation of MFF Vietnam’s prioritized Programmes of Work: sound rehabilitation of coastal ecosystems; environmentally sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities; community resilience to natural disasters; adaptive coastal management; and reinforcing marine and coastal protected areas.
  • Strengthen local community participation in decision-making and management of coastal ecosystems.
  • Replicate and scale up existing project interventions with demonstrated success.

SGF projects should demonstrate potential for co-financing and ensure the participation of women and other disadvantaged groups.

Geographic focus: All coastal provinces from Quang Nam to Quang Ninh.

Eligibility

Proposals can be submitted by NGOs, CBOs, local mass organizations, research centers, and educational institutions with operations in Viet Nam that meet the following criteria:

  • Are registered, preferably for at least three years (see Annex 2).
  • Have a proven or strong potential capacity to implement community-based projects.
  • Have a proven record of working with local communities in a participatory way.
  • Can demonstrate experience in project management and financial administration.

Selection process

Applicants should submit a project concept note (see Annex 1) in Vietnamese or English. Annexes 1 and 2 are available at http://mangrovesforthefuture.org. If requested, MFF staff can support applicants to prepare a concept note. Short-listed applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Please note that an invitation to submit a full proposal is no guarantee that it will be financially supported by MFF.
