Project Cycle Management Training- Small Grants Facility

The purpose of the workshop was to equip the Small Grants applicants of the MFF Small Grants Programme and the local NGOs and CBOs so that they can address the needs of the coastal communities in a better manner. The training was conducted by a renowned biologist and agriculturist Dr. Ranjith Mahindapala from Sri Lanka.

The Thirty Five (35) participants were selected from amongst the Small Grants applicants and the NGOs and CBOs that are actively working along the coasts of Sindh and Balochistan and the National Coordination Body members.

During the session these representatives also shared their proposals that were fine-tuned according to the MFF guidelines under the guidance of Dr. Mahindapala. The Small-sized project funding is upto US$10,000 and the approved projects will be implemented within a span of six months to one year. An MFF Programme Sub-committee is formed of the National Coordinating Body Members that oversees the selection process which is headed by the representative of the Ministry of Climate Change.

The National Coordination Body (NCB) is formed of representatives of the federal government, provincial governments of Sindh and Balochistan, government departments, donors and NGOs including: Sindh Forest & Wildlife Department, Sindh Coastal Development Authority, National Institute of Oceanography, Pakistan Navy, Balochistan Coastal Development Authority, Balochistan Fisheries Department, Shehri and IUCN Pakistan.

The National Coordination Body (NCB) is headed by the Secretary, Ministry of Climate Change and formed of representatives of the federal government, provincial governments of Sindh and Balochsitan, government departments, donors and NGOs including: Sindh Forest & Wildlife Department, Sindh Coastal Development Authority, National Institute of Oceanography, Pakistan Navy, Balochistan Coastal Development Authority, Balochistan Fisheries Department, Shehri and IUCN Pakistan.

During the closing remarks Mr. Mahmood Akhtar Cheema, Country Representative, IUCN Pakistan thanked the participants for their participation and interest and also commended the contribution of the donors and Mangroves for the Future Programme for their investment in developing the skills of the communities and the stakeholders in the coastal areas. He further said that the knowledge is necessary to run the projects effectively sustainably.

Mr. Ghulam Qadir Shah, Manager MFF Proramme also hoped that the participants have learned new skills and must have gained knowledge to deal with management of their projects.
