On the second day of the workshop, MFF’s institutional partner, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), together with Dr. Carl Gustaf Lundin, Director of the IUCN Global Marine and Polar Programme and Aban Marker Kabraji, Regional Director of IUCN Asia, will present IUCN’s contributions to SDG 14 and Agenda 2030. Particular focus will be given to MFF’s contributions to safeguarding and increasing the well-being of coastal communities in Asia. MFF’s evolution over the course of 14 years and how its strategic focus areas -- coastal rehabilitation; livelihood support; and resilience-building and empowerment, with climate change and gender as key cross-cutting issues -- contribute and connect to the SDGs will also be highlighted at this global platform. The event is set to be attended by ministers and high-level representatives of major institutions and organisations from Sweden.
MFF and its programmatic achievements will also be presented at the United Nations Ocean Conference, to be held in New York from 5 to 9 June. The Ocean Conference will also focus on SDG 14. Stay tuned for more updates on this event.
