Objectives

Video documentation of good practices on waste management  in the islands of Haa.Vashafaru, Meemu Dhiggaru, Alif Alif .Ukulhas and then to replicate one these model in the island of Raa Ungoofaaru

Background

This project will address the awareness gap in addressing the environmental issues in the Maldives through a video documentary depicting the good practices in three islands where local solutions have been successful, and replicate a suitable method from these three islands in the island of Raa Ungoofaaru.

The communities in the islands of Haa.Vashafaru, Meemu Dhiggaru, Alif Alif .Ukulhas and Raa Ungoofaaru

Outputs

  • Three videos documenting how the communities are engaged in managing waste in islands of Haa.Vashafaru, Meemu Dhiggaru, Alif Alif .Ukulhas
  • Documenting an island with no waste management practiced and document how good practices will be adopted by the community in the island of Raa Ungoofaaru
  • Exchange the video documents between islands which are already managing their own waste at island level (between the islands of Haa.Vashafaru, Meemu Dhiggaru, Alif Alif Ukulhas)
  • Capturing the behavioral change through video documentation and the lesson learnt from the islands where replication of good waste management practices are implemented after the awareness campaign
  • Widely distribute the final documentary showing the behavioral change brought about by increasing awareness on the issue through distributing the documentary and airing it on television.
