Large Projects

Large projects have a budget from USD 50,000 to a maximum of USD 300,000 per project. Each NCB can announce a call for proposals, or invite eligible institutions to apply. To ensure transparency, the large projects are also screened by the TAP. Large projects that are implemented by 2-6 focal countries are encouraged to promote a regional approach to coastal ecosystem management.


The following 6 projects have been approved:
  1. Reversing Environmental Damage through Community Focused Sustainable Livelihoods in Ban Don Bay, Surat Thani province, Southern Thailand. Proposed by: Wetlands International Thailand Office, Thailand

  2. Alternative livelihood options for vulnerable mangrove resource users in the Sundarban Tiger Reserve, West Bengal, India. Proposed by: Sundarban Biosphere Reserve of the Department of Forest, Government of West Bengal, India

  3. Ecosystem-based Integrated Coastal Resources Management through Multi-Stakeholder participation in Southern Thailand. Proposed by: Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF), Thailand

  4. Evaluating and improving the management effectiveness of Thailand's Marine and Coastal Protected Areas. Proposed by: Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), Thailand

  5. Promoting community participation in integrated coastal management in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. Proposed by: Sri Lanka Nature Forum (SLNF), Sri Lanka

  6. Increasing the resilience of coastal and riverine communities to climate change and other threats, by conserving the ecosystem services of the Maha Oya and associated coastal wetlands in Sri Lanka. Proposed by: Environmental Foundation Ltd (EFL), Sri Lanka
