This was a technical training course intended for natural resource and managers and project staff who are engaged in various aspects of coastal zone management, especially coastal and marine conservation, community-based management, and sustainable natural resources utilisation.  The course is based largely on the tools and methods presented/discussed at the MFF Review Forum (Sri Lanka in April 2008), and their on-going elaboration and development.

The trainers are experienced specialists in their respective subjects. The modality of the training course is a combination of plenary presentations, parallel working groups and field work sessions. The emphasis will be on interactive learning involving practical demonstration and use of the tools and methods in real life situations with field examples from the Demak District.

The regional training workshop has been organised by the MFF Secretariat and an organising committee in Semarang comprised of UNDIP, Bappenas, and DKP (Marine Science and Fisheries Department) representative.
